The beginning of November was a BIG birthday time for us! First Daddy and then cousin Melanie (more on Mel-Mel later)...they BOTH turned 40!!
We got up extra-early on the morning of Daddy's birthday to make him breakfast. It was a school/work day, but we wanted to make sure we started the day off right! We made muffins, served alongside Jackson's favorites: bananas and apple juice.

And we gave Daddy his presents. There was quite an assortment, which included a NASA coffee mug, a certificate to go golfing, a certificate to go to the ice rink (he keeps saying that he's determined to get Jackson on skates this winter...oh my!) and a George Bush baseball cap.
When Daddy got home from picking Jackson up from school in the afternoon, we made sure there were balloons (announcing his 40th birthday, of course!) waiting on the mailbox.
For dinner, we made one of his favorites...enchiladas with refried beans on the side.

And Daddy can't have a birthday without chocolate cake! (Yes, he got to blow out a candle at BOTH breakfast AND dinner!)
