Christmas 2009

It was our 2nd Christmas with Diva and we had a great time at Mom's house. We went to Mom's the day after we got back from New York, as we'd missed Diva terribly. She was perfectly happy at Grandma's, though. We got there on Tuesday & Wendy arrived that evening. On Wednesday, Anil had some work to do, so Wendy & I ventured off to meet Melanie for coffee & gift exchange. We do love our Mel-Mel!! And THEN I introduced Wendy to one of my favorite stores... The Container Store! It's like Home Depot for women. All about organization and storage. It's a little piece of heaven. :-)

Thursday was some last minute gift- wrapping, baking desserts for the next day & family time. Then it was Christmas morning.

Wendy was so sad as she was spending Christmas without Matt. Little did she know that he was on his way! I chatted with him early that morning when he left his shift in Asheville. And before we knew it, he was walking in the door. Wendy was so shocked & crying so hard, she could barely pull herself off the floor. It was so sweet & made all of us cry. I took this video of him coming in.

We opened presents and stockings and then ate our traditional "monkey bread." YUMMY!! There's not much tastier than biscuits rolled in gooey cinnamon sugar & pecans!

Then it was time to get ready for the family to come over. Since we do such a HUGE meal for T-giving, we decided a few years ago to make a simpler meal for Christmas. Our family does love spaghetti & garlic bread! And I made several different desserts out of my Trisha Yearwood cookbook, all of which were devoured.

A great time was had by all, and much too soon, it was all over. But then we got Christmas #2 with our trip to Ottawa. Much fun!
