Surgery Day

On Monday, Jackson had his surgery at Children's Healthcare/Scottish Rite. We were up really early as we had to be there by 6:40am. We had a little reading time in the waiting room while we waited to be called back.

Soon, we checked in, Jackson's vitals were taken and they guided us back to his pre-op room. They have a big cupboard in the hallway, full of new toys. Each child gets to pick a toy to take home. Jackson chose a little stuffed zebra. :-)

We were visited by our pre-op nurse Cindy, our surgeon (who talked us through the whole surgery), and the anesthesiologist. Soon, it was time to go. They encouraged one of us to go with him until they put him to sleep. We decided it would be best if Anil went...I wasn't sure I could handle seeing my baby being put to sleep! Anil looked cute in his "scrubs"!

Jackson was quickly asleep and Anil came to the recovery room to wait with me. Our post-op nurse, Diane, was amazing and kept us constantly updated. About 45 minutes later, our little man was finally wheeled into the recovery room. He was in such a deep sleep, he was snoring, which we thought was cute. He looked so teeny in the big bed.

They let him sleep for about an hour, and then we woke him up to drink some juice. (The nurses had to make sure he could keep liquids down.)

He drank all his juice, and after about another hour of them monitoring his pulse and breathing, they released us. By the time we were on the way home, Jackson's fabulous smile was back.

After a little play time, everyone was exhausted and Diva and Jackson fell asleep on the couch.

The nap must have really helped! By the end of the afternoon, Jackson was trying to climb the dresser. I reminded him that he is NOT a rock climber! :-)
