Journey to Ottawa: Part 1

Jackson took his very first trip to Ottawa, Canada (birthplace of his Daddy!) last week. We'd been a little worried because he'd been really sick with his first cold, but we kept him home for a few days (out of school) and he was much better by the time we left. Thank goodness!

Uncle Matt and Aunt Wendy joined us on our trip (Uncle Matt's first trip to Canada, too!), which made it all the more fun. It was an early morning on Wednesday, February 16 when we got up to leave for the airport. We actually had to wake Jackson up (something we never do!) and he looked at us like we were crazy! We were out the door by 7:15am and our vacation began!

Jackson had a great first leg of our trip to Detroit...Here he is hanging out in his brand new stroller in the Detroit airport. He LOVES being in it because he can see everything in front of him!

When we finally got to Ottawa, Grandma and Grandpa were both waiting at the airport for us (we needed both cars to get all of us home!). They brought Jackson his very 1st snowsuit...he looked like the cutest little blueberry in it! Although it looked like he didn't know WHAT to think! So funny!!

That night, we had lots of yummy Indian food (thanks Mom!) for dinner. Jackson was exhausted from the day and went to bed early. Mom watched him on Wednesday/Thursday nights so Anil and I could get some rest...thanks Mom!

On Thursday, we hung out some at the house, where Jackson had fun catching up with Grandma/Grandpa...

...and discovering himself in the mirror.

In the early afternoon, Jackson stayed home with his Grandparents while Wendy, Matt, Anil & I headed downtown. Matt is a HUGE history/architecture fan, so he loved looking at the Parliament buildings. Wendy & I went shopping. :-)

Thursday morning, we got up and all headed to the mall...more shopping for Aunt Wendy & Mommy! :-) It was a pretty nice day out, so Jackson only needed to wear his coat & hat (thank you Aunt Wendy)...Isn't he SO cute in it?!

After some shopping for the girls (and Jackson "walking" around the mall with the boys), we stopped by Harvey's for a yummy burger & onion rings! Then we headed back to Grandma & Grandpa's house because it was almost time for Chachi, Chachu, Audrey & Violet to arrive!..
